Sentai Filmworks Licenses "Tsuritama"

HOUSTON, 2012 — Sentai Filmworks is proud to announce their latest catch: Kenji Nakamura's (Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales) tsuritama. Originally airing in Fuji Television's prestigious Noitamina block, tsuritama is sure to be the catch of the day.

You can't catch fish if you don't go fishing, and you can't make friends if you don't at least try. Which is how relationship-challenged student Yuki finds himself on a fishing trip to a tiny island with three other boys he barely knows. Well, two other boys and Haru, who claims that he's an alien. Not that constantly stewing Natsuki or mysterious Akira are any more likely as prospects for good companionship. But there's something about fishing that makes it unlike any other pastime, and maybe that quiet sense of companionship and hopeful expectation is just what Yuki needs to start charting the unfamiliar waters of personal connections. Or maybe it will turn out that Haru's right and they're going to have to save the entire planet. There are lots of different kinds of fish stories, from the “ones that got away” to the “best catches ever,” but whichever way the currents of life take them, for four young men, this trip may turn out to be the biggest whopper ever in tsuritama!

tsuritama will begin release through select digital outlets soon with a home video release to follow.

Sentai Filmworks Licenses "Dusk Maiden of Amnesia"

HOUSTON, 2012— Join Sentai Filmworks for a mystery that must be solved from beyond the grave as they announce the North American licensing of Dusk Maiden of Amnesia. Director Shin Oonuma (ef: a tale of memories, ef: a tale of melodies) and character designer Yukiko Ban (.hack//SIGN) bring original creator Maybe's tale of death and haunting to life.

60 years ago, a young woman was left to die in the abandoned school building behind the exclusive Seikyou Academy. No one knows why. No one knows how. But the horrifying tale and the legends of the ghostly haunting that followed live on to this day. Perhaps it's not so surprising then, that among Seikyou's many school clubs is one for students interested in “paranormal investigations.” What might raise more than a few hairs, however, is that the founder of the club is the ghost herself. Unable to remember how she died and trapped in the grey land between life and death, Yūko latches onto Teiichi Niiya, a freshman who can inexplicably see her, and together they and the other unsuspecting members of the club begin to unravel the many dark mysteries that surround Seikyou. Will unlocking the secret of Yūko's gruesome death finally free her? Or will her sudden close association with a mortal have even stranger repercussions on both of their existences? In a tomb of silent classrooms, the answers await in Dusk Maiden of Amnesia.

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia will begin release through select digital outlets soon with a home video release to follow.

Hidetaka Tenjin Appearing at Otakon 2012

Baltimore, MD – We are proud to announce that illustrator Hidetaka Tenjin is coming to Otakon 2012!

With no formal art training, Tenjin has staked his claim as one of the premier illustrators in Japan, having drafted mechanical art for the Macross, Gundam, and Space Battleship Yamato franchises. This artwork includes model box covers, DVD covers, art books, and mechanical designs for some of the later shows.

Tenjin began drawing Macross' signature fighter, the VF-1 Valkyrie, while he was still in college for a personal fansite. His love extended to doing pinups for the “Macross Chronicle”, a weekly fan publication, which eventually led to doing work for another fan publication, the “Space Battleship Yamato Fact File.” Since then, Tenjin has illustrated the box art for several Gundam Master Grade model kits for Bandai and the cover for the PlayStation 2 game Gradius V.

Tenjin's earlier works also led to him to become the main visual artist or special effects artist for numerous animé including Macross Zero, Macross Frontier, Hellsing Ultimate, Gundam Evolve, the Saint Seiya movie, and Genesis of Aquarion. This year, Tenjin can be found as the cover artist of the Japanese version of Sony's Starhawk and as the mecha artist of the TV series, DVD/ BD packaging covers and promotional artwork for Aquarion Evol.

Studio Ghibli's Latest Masterpiece – Arrietty Comes To DVD & Blu-Ray

Madman proudly presents the visually stunning new animated feature from the world-renowned Studio Ghibli – ARRIETTY, available on DVD ($29.95srp) and Blu-Ray ($39.95srp), May 23, 2012.

ARRIETTY is the story of the Clock family – the youngest of which is 14-year-old Arrietty – a race of ‘little people’ living beneath the floorboards of a sprawling mansion, hidden in a luscious garden in the suburbs of Tokyo. Everything they have, they borrow - or make from the things they have borrowed – but in order to survive in anonymity, they must do so sparingly and carefully, choosing only discrete items that will never be noticed.

One fateful day, their peaceful existence is interrupted by the arrival of Sho, a poorly young boy who has moved into the mansion while he waits for urgent medical treatment. The adventurous Arrietty is intrigued by him, and despite her parents' warnings about the dangers of being seen by big people, she accidentally allows herself to be discovered by Sho. Before long, the two begin to confide in each other and a friendship begins to blossom.

Based on Mary Norton's much-loved children's book, The Borrowers, and written for the screen by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker, Hayao Miyazaki, ARRIETTY is a magical family adventure, and in the true Studio Ghibli fashion, has universal appeal for young and old alike.

The DVD and Blu-Ray releases include both the original Japanese language (with English subtitles) and English dubbed versions of the film – with the English dubbed version featuring a stellar line-up of U.K. voice talent, including Saoirse Ronan (HANNA, THE LOVELY BONES), Olivia Colman (HOT FUZZ, THE IRON LADY), Mark Strong (KICK-ASS, TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY), Geraldine McEwan (ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THEIVES, THE MAGDALENE SISTERS) and more.

To celebrate the release of ARRIETTY on DVD & Blu-Ray, Madman are offering samples of the film for reviews and giveaways, as well as Studio Ghibli back-catalogue titles for prize packs. To secure yours, please contact Madman Publicity on the details provided below.

Sentai Filmworks Licenses "Upotte!"

HOUSTON, May 02, 2012 — Forget about girls WITH guns, Sentai Filmworks is pleased to announce their acquisition of Upotte!!, the show that's all about girls who ARE guns! Upotte!! features the scripts by Naruhisa Arakawa (Listen To Me, Girls! I am Your Father, Blue Seed), direction by Takao Kato (To Love Ru, Pandora Hearts) and character designs by Akio Takami (Buso Renkin, Steam Detectives).

Kiss kiss, bang bang! The arms race takes on a startling new development when the arms come with heads, legs and very feminine bodies attached! Yes, at Seishou Academy every girl is literally a lethal weapon, and they're all gunning for the top shot at getting their own personal serviceman! Needless to say, it's going to be difficult for newly recruited human instructor Genkoku to adjust to working with a living arsenal of high caliber cuties with tricky names like FNC (Funko,) M 16A4 (Ichiroku,) L85A1 (Eru,) and SG 550 (Shigu,). Especially since many have hair triggers and there's no bulletproof vest that can stop a really determined coed! He'll have to rewrite the operator's manual on student/teacher relationships, and pray that his job description won't include having to field strip and reassemble one of his cadets in the dark. But unfortunately (for him,) FNC's already thinking about becoming HIS personal weapon, and she usually gets what she aims for! Get ready for explosive situations, amour piercing rounds, cheap shots galore and one VERY shell-shocked homeroom instructor in UPOTTE!

UPOTTE! will begin release through select digital outlets soon with a home video release to follow.
